History: Orihime @ Bleach Wiki
Personality: At first glance, Orihime is a naive and almost ditzy girl. Some find this endearing about her and others just pity her, seeing her as someone who needs to be lead or protected. Yet Orihime is anything but stupid, her cluelessness offset by her surprisingly high marks in school and her uncanny ability to see into her own emotions and those of others. She is specially tuned into people she cares about, such as her best friend and number one defender Tatsuki, as well as her infatuation and classic shounen protagonist, Ichigo. Despite this, even simple things she doesn't seem to understand, while complex ones make a very strange amount of sense. A little offbeat and odd - though it never seems to register with her - Orihime does things her own way and is definitely her own person, from her taste in food to the fact she can't seem to figure out how to use a cellphone.
It should be noted that sometimes Orihime's creativity can get away from her. She's known to fantasize about ridiculous situations, although they can start out fairly normally. For example, she was imagining what it would be like if Ichigo walked her home from the park, but it quickly turned into them racing a professional runner, then fighting in a boxing match, to dealing with a hit man hiding in the paparazzi. She can space out during these times or she can shouting or waving her arms at her imagined foes. Too bad no one else can see them. Not much embarrasses her, though, and she's generally happy to be here own person. The people who care bout her accept her for who she is, just as she does the same for them. Unfortunately, her cooking is one thing most would prefer not to accept from her, since her tastes are...eclectic at best. If two foods sound like they shouldn't go together, she does it. And somehow manages to eat it all without making herself sick. Only Rangiku really appreciates it.
Friendly and kind-hearted, she cares for her friends like family, and wants nothing more than to be able to protect and fight alongside them. She wants to take care of everyone, and even has trouble seeing enemies suffer, one of the reasons some see her unfit for combat. (Surprisingly, Tatsuki admits that she is actually a skilled martial artist, even though we rarely see this.) Her desire to protect is her main motivation for moving forward. She wants to be worthy to stand at their side and join them in battle, though Orihime often finds herself struggling. It's more often than not her own self-doubts holding her back than actual ability, as when her heart is in it, she can be very effective. She can sometimes make rash decisions in these times, often with the thought of protecting someone else. Her discovery of her powers, notably, was from her desire to protect Tatsuki, someone who understands her better than anyone else.
While she is able to joke about herself rather easily and comes off as cheerful, Orihime has her own regrets and feelings of inadequacy that she can never shake. Her feelings for Ichigo make her happy and sad at the same time, for she would never dare to come between or create what he and Rukia seem to have. Unintentionally so, she compares herself critically to Rukia, finding all her shortcomings as something that Rukia excels in. It should be noted that it takes quite a bit for her to think ill of someone, even when feelings of jealousy are in play. And she has been jealous, something she considers ugly and feels very guilty about. Rangiku, however, is able to help her remember that every person is unique and important for who they are, not who they are not. Still, she constantly has trouble believing that she is anything but a burden to her allies, feeling that she is never good enough and not of use to her friends when they most need her. With the weight of her insecurities and her aching heart, Orihime continues on with a smile, believing completely that her friends' feelings are more important than her own, and knowing that as long as she can see them smile and finally be free of the chaotic events that keep happening, she can be happy too. She never wants pity, or at least she never asks for it, just their safety and happiness. If she can help in any small way, it will be worth it.
Despite her ability to read others, these insecurities lead her to having trouble understanding that other people may care for her the way she cares for them. When she comes to realize this, Orihime regains confidence in her position amongst her more powerful peers, knowing that they are doing for her just what she would do for them. Though the world around her appears to be falling apart, she has never found it in her to hate. Second chances are extremely important and she wants to see the good in everyone, such as how she is able to sympathize with the enemies at times (such as Ulquiorra in later chapters). Orihime has an unwavering belief in her friends, feeling that as long as they commit to themselves, they will get through anything. They are a source of her strength both metaphorically and literally, her reason for fighting and living. With all her oddities and quirks, she is ultimately a loyal and dedicated friend with a desire to help and protect. And to Orihime, that's the best thing she can be.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
✽ Hair Fairies: Orihime's spiritual power is manifested in her hairpins (given to her by her late brother), called the Shun Shun Rikka, which translates to "Six Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield". It's fitting as they are primarily defensive, like a shield. Her hairpins turn into six fairies that perform three different tasks depending on the combination...
- Santen Kesshun: This is her primarily defensive ability. Three of her fairies (Hinagiku, Lily, and Baigon) form a triangle shield that she uses to protect herself and her friends from attacks, as well as to catch them from falling.
WARPING: Her levels of fear in game will greatly impact her ability to properly form the shield. Essentially use like a fear/insanity gauge? The more unnerved she is the less viable the shield will be and while she may be able to form it, it will also shatter.- Souten Kisshun: This is her healing ability. Two of her fairies (Ayame and Shun'o) form a dome over a person or object and are able to repair damage done, even to things as severe as someone's arm being cut off.
WARPING: Her healing time is cut down by 50% and it's also a 50/50 chance whether or not she will transfer the wounds to herself or someone nearby instead.- Koten Zanshun: This is her offensive ability. Tsubaki essentially cuts someone apart (details below), though she doesn't often use this ability. When she does, it's typically weak because she's so hesitant to hurt others. Only when she finds her resolve is it ever effective.
WARPING: This isn't known for being particularly powerful in general, but I'll also put the fear gauge on this on whether or not she will actually be able to call and attack. It's already built in a bit with her canon resolve.- Shiten Koushun: A combination of Santen Kesshun and Koten Zanshun, her shield is raised with Tsubaki at the center, which not only repels an attack, but sends it back towards the enemy.
WARPING: Similar to the above--fear gauge. Also it may accidentally shoot the attack back towards her/whoever she is protecting rather than outwards towards the enemy.
It should be noted that her incantation for all of these abilities is "I Reject", which explains the true nature of her powers. As Aizen is able to point out, she actually isn't "healing" or "blocking", but rejecting events from happening outside a designated area. Her shield rejects an attack and keeps it at bay, while her healing dome was able to reject the absence of Grimmjow's arm, bringing it back as if it had never been cut off, even with the arm having been destroyed. Her attack actually breaks and splits matter.WARPING: Well...I figure these are pretty game-breaky powers to literally reject what reality is happening. So I would put a time limit on what she can actually affect. I.E. if someone lost an arm a week ago she's too late, but a wound someone received within the last hour is still fair came. So maybe a day total for her abilities? And she can't undo anything that is an event or in-game consequence.
✽ Spiritual Power: SHE CAN SEE DEAD PEOPLE! No, really. She's able to see Shinigami and Hollows, ghosts in general, and can sense the spiritual presence of the living as well. Because of these heightened senses, she is also able to withstand the spiritual pressure of powerful foes fighting nearby.WARPING: N/A, I don't think this will be an issue? Other than something being an event mechanic that she shouldn't be able to unveil/counter for plot reasons.
✽ Martial Arts: Yes, she may not look like it, but Orihime actually has some skill in hand-to-hand combat. Her best friend Tatsuki taught her and is, reportedly, at the skill level of a black belt. We rarely see her actually practice this "on screen", but she has been known to take out Shinigami off screen.WARPING: N/A, this is definitely within human ability.
Inventory:
- Blue hairpins
- Her school uniform since by her canon point she's got this thing on...

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yep!
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: GHOST AND DEAD THINGS. I love those. And body horror. Monsters...I'm predictable at this point.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Generally don't do the birth/pregnancy horror, but I'm hard to squick, to be honest. I am happy to just not read something if I don't want to.
